Delaiah was a priest appointed by David to be in charge of the twenty-third division of the priestly order.

Delaiah was the head of the twenty-third division of priests organized by King David for service in the sanctuary (1 Chronicles 24:18). David divided the priestly families into twenty-four courses, each with assigned weeks of temple service—a system that continued into the Second Temple period and appears in the New Testament context of Zechariah's priestly service (Luke 1:8). A priest named Delaiah also appears in Ezra's time as one who could not establish his priestly genealogy from the exile records (Ezra 2:60).
