Elishua

United Kingdom Tribe of Judah · H0474
Old Testament

Elishua, also known as Elishama, was a son of David born to him in Jerusalem.

Elishua was one of David's sons born to him in Jerusalem after he became king over all Israel, listed in 2 Samuel 5:15 and 1 Chronicles 14:5. His name, meaning 'my God is salvation,' reflects the theological confidence of David's reign. He is preserved primarily in the royal genealogies that document the expansion of David's family in Jerusalem, where David established his capital and consolidated the united monarchy.
