Hanniel, a descendant of Asher, was the son of Ulla, as mentioned in the genealogy of the tribe of Asher.
Hanniel son of Ephod was the appointed representative of the tribe of Manasseh in the commission charged with distributing the land of Canaan among the tribes after the conquest (Numbers 34:23). He served alongside Joshua, Eleazar, and the representatives of the other tribes in this momentous territorial allocation. A second Hanniel appears in 1 Chronicles 7:39 as a son of Ulla from the tribe of Asher, a man of valor and leader of a clan.
