Hattil

Old Testament

Hattil was an ancestor of Solomon's servants who returned to Jerusalem from Babylonian exile.

Hattil was the ancestor of a family counted among Solomon's servants who returned from Babylonian exile under Zerubbabel, listed in Ezra 2:57 and Nehemiah 7:59. Solomon's servants formed a distinct hereditary class of royal and temple workers alongside the Nethinim. Hattil's family's return in the first wave of repatriation reflects the persistence of these ancient service traditions even after two or more generations of exile in Babylon.
