Hazarmaveth

Hazarmaveth was a son of Joktan and a great-great-grandson of Shem in the Table of Nations (Genesis 10:26; 1 Chronicles 1:20). His name is traditionally associated with the ancient South Arabian region of Hadramaut (modern Yemen), one of the great frankincense-producing regions of antiquity. His inclusion in the Joktanite genealogy reflects the biblical interest in tracing the origins of the various South Arabian peoples known through trade and legend in the ancient Near East.
