Hezron

Hezron was a son of Perez and grandson of Judah, who traveled with Jacob's household to Egypt and became the ancestor of the Hezronite clan within the tribe of Judah (Genesis 46:12; Numbers 26:21). He is also the grandfather of Caleb and an ancestor of the Davidic line, making his genealogical significance considerable. In the New Testament he appears as Hezron (Greek: Esrom) in the genealogies of Jesus in Matthew 1 and Luke 3, linking the patriarchal family directly to the messianic lineage.
