Hotham

Hotham the Aroerite was the father of two of David's mighty warriors, Shama and Jeiel, who are listed among the distinguished fighters of the united monarchy (1 Chronicles 11:44). His hometown of Aroer may refer to the settlement on the Arnon River in Transjordan or to an Aroer in Judah. Hotham is known entirely through the military reputation of his sons, whose service in David's elite corps brought distinction to their family.
