Jakim was the head of the 12th priestly division during David's reign.
Jakim was the head of the twelfth priestly division organized by King David for the rotation of temple service (1 Chronicles 24:12). The twenty-four divisions, assigned by lot, each served one week at a time, a system that structured Israelite priestly worship through the monarchic and Second Temple periods. The twelfth division under Jakim would have been responsible for all sacrificial and liturgical duties during its assigned week.
