Jehu

Old Testament

Jehu was one of the Benjamite archers and slingers who joined David at Ziklag while he was hiding from Saul.

Jehu, a son of Obed from the tribe of Benjamin, was among the mighty warriors from Saul's own tribe who joined David at Ziklag (1 Chronicles 12:3). The defection of Benjamites to David—remarkable because Saul was himself a Benjamite—is highlighted in 1 Chronicles 12 as evidence of the breadth of David's support. This Jehu should be carefully distinguished from the far more prominent Jehu son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi, the military commander who was anointed king over Israel and exterminated the house of Ahab (2 Kings 9–10).
