Madai, a son of Japheth, is considered the ancestor of the Medes.
Madai was a son of Japheth and grandson of Noah, listed in the Table of Nations (Genesis 10:2; 1 Chronicles 1:5). He is the eponymous ancestor of the Medes, the powerful Iranian people who, together with the Persians, overthrew the Neo-Babylonian empire in 539 BC. The Medes appear frequently in biblical prophecy as instruments of divine judgment against Babylon (Isaiah 13:17; Jeremiah 51:11, 28) and as partners in the Achaemenid Persian empire of the post-exilic period.
