Old Testament

The Meholathites were people from Abel-meholah, including Adriel, who married Saul's daughter Merab, and Barzillai, whose son married Saul's daughter Michal.

The Meholathites were people from Abel-meholah, a town in the Jordan Valley. The most notable Meholathite is Adriel son of Barzillai the Meholathite, to whom Saul gave his daughter Merab in marriage (1 Samuel 18:19; 2 Samuel 21:8). Another Barzillai the Meholathite was the father of one of Ezra's priests whose lineage could not be established (Ezra 2:61). Abel-meholah is also associated with Elisha's hometown (1 Kings 19:16).
