Melchi

Melchi appears twice in Luke's genealogy of Jesus: once as the son of Addi and father of Neri (Luke 3:28), and once as the son of Jannai and father of Levi (Luke 3:24). These two men of the same name appear in different generations of the post-exilic Davidic lineage. Neither is independently attested in the Old Testament, and they are known only from their appearance in Luke's genealogical record.
