Rebekah

Patriarchs (Abraham–Joseph) Early Patriarch · H7259
Old Testament

Rebekah was the wife of Isaac and the mother of Jacob and Esau.

Rebekah was the daughter of Bethuel and the wife of the patriarch Isaac, whose betrothal to Abraham's son was arranged through the providential journey of Abraham's servant described in Genesis 24. She is remembered for her hospitality, her reception of divine oracle concerning her twin sons Esau and Jacob (Genesis 25:22–23), and her role in securing the patriarchal blessing for Jacob through the deception recounted in Genesis 27. Her faith and initiative shaped the destiny of the Israelite nation, and she is honored in Romans 9:10–12 as an illustration of God's elective purposes.
