Salu was the father of Zimri, a Simeonite prince who was killed by Phinehas for his involvement with a Midianite woman.
Salu was a Simeonite leader, the father of Zimri, who was slain by Phinehas during the episode of Baal-peor when Zimri brazenly brought a Midianite woman into the Israelite camp while a plague was raging (Numbers 25:14). Phinehas's zealous action in killing both Zimri and the Midianite woman, Cozbi, stayed the divine plague and earned him a covenant of perpetual priesthood.
