Zeeb, a prince of Midian, was captured and killed by the Ephraimites during Gideon's victory over the Midianites.
Zeeb was a prince of Midian who, along with Oreb, commanded the Midianite forces routed by Gideon and the Israelites. The Ephraimites intercepted the fleeing Midianites at the Jordan crossings and killed both Oreb and Zeeb: Zeeb was killed at the winepress of Zeeb (Judges 7:25; 8:3). The names 'Oreb' (raven) and 'Zeeb' (wolf) may be military titles or totemic names. Their deaths are commemorated in Psalm 83:11 and Isaiah 10:26 as paradigmatic divine victories over Israel's enemies.
