'There is no other god besides me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none besides me' — the culminating declaration of Second Isaiah's monotheism places uniqueness ('there is none besides me') and saving activity ('Savior') as inseparably linked divine attributes. The court-scene imagery of 'tell ye, bring them near, let them take counsel' stages a legal confrontation between YHWH and the nations' gods, challenging them to match YHWH's record of historical prediction and fulfillment. The combination 'righteous and Savior' (tsaddiq umoshia) is theologically significant: God's righteousness is not opposed to his saving mercy but expressed through it, a nuance Paul develops in Romans 3:26.
