Addi

Exile Tribe of Judah · G0078
New Testament

Addi was an ancestor of Jesus Christ, mentioned in the genealogy in the Gospel of Luke.

Addi was an ancestor of Jesus Christ in the genealogy recorded by Luke, listed as the son of Cosam and father of Melchi (Luke 3:28). He lived in the post-exilic period, in the long line of generations between Zerubbabel and Shealtiel on one side and Joseph, the legal father of Jesus, on the other. Luke's genealogy traces the Davidic lineage through Nathan rather than Solomon, providing a complementary account to Matthew's royal line. Addi is otherwise unknown outside this genealogical reference, but his inclusion attests the careful preservation of Davidic ancestry across multiple centuries.
