Alemeth

Alemeth was a son of Becher and a grandson of Benjamin, listed in the genealogy of the tribe of Benjamin in 1 Chronicles 7:8. The Becherites were a significant Benjaminite sub-clan; Becher himself was listed as Benjamin's second son (Genesis 46:21). Alemeth also appears as a place name—Almon or Alemeth—which was a Levitical city assigned to the Kohathites in the territory of Benjamin (Joshua 21:18; 1 Chronicles 6:60), suggesting that the personal name and the place name may be related in the tradition's geographic memory. He appears in no narrative episode.
