Anub

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Judah · H6036
Old Testament

Anub was a descendant of Judah, mentioned in the genealogy of the tribe of Judah.

Anub was a descendant of Judah through Harum, listed in the genealogical register of 1 Chronicles 4:8. He is identified as the brother of Aharhel and described as a descendant of Koz (or Hakkoz), a family that plays a small role in the post-exilic records. The genealogy of Judah in 1 Chronicles 4 preserves records of southern clans and settlements that are otherwise unattested in the historical books. Anub appears in no narrative episode and is known entirely from this genealogical reference, though his name—possibly meaning 'grapes'—is unusual in the Old Testament.
