Azel

Azel was a descendant of King Saul through Jonathan and Merib-baal (Mephibosheth), listed in the Benjamite genealogies of 1 Chronicles 8:37–38 and 9:43–44. He had six sons—Azrikam, Bokeru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan—indicating that Saul's line continued to flourish into the post-exilic period despite the dynasty's political demise. His genealogy demonstrates the importance biblical writers attached to tracing royal lineages even generations after royal power had passed.
