Bezalel

Exodus & Wilderness Tribe of Judah · H1212G
Old Testament

Bezalel, son of Uri, was a skilled craftsman filled with God's Spirit to build the tabernacle and its furnishings.

Bezalel son of Uri, of the tribe of Judah, was the master craftsman appointed by God to design and build the tabernacle and all its furnishings during Israel's wilderness journey (Exodus 31:1–11; 35:30–36:2). God declared that He had filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship. Working alongside Oholiab of Dan, Bezalel oversaw the construction of the ark, the mercy seat, the menorah, the altar, the laver, and all the sacred vessels. His divinely gifted artistry made the tabernacle—Israel's portable house of worship—a reality in the wilderness.
