Dishon

Patriarchs (Abraham–Joseph) Edom · H1787G
Old Testament

Dishon was a descendant of Seir the Horite and the son of Anah, mentioned in the genealogies of Esau's family.

Dishon was a Horite chief descended from Seir, listed in the genealogy of Esau's Edomite connections (Genesis 36:21, 25–26; 1 Chronicles 1:38, 41). He was a son of Seir and also the son of Anah (through a different line), making the genealogy somewhat complex. His sons—Hemdan (or Hamran), Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran—are also listed as Horite chiefs. The Horites were the aboriginal inhabitants of the Seir region before Esau's descendants established dominion there (Deuteronomy 2:12).
