Guni, a descendant of Gad, was the father of Abdiel, as mentioned in the genealogy of Gad.
Guni was a son of Naphtali and grandson of Jacob, listed in Genesis 46:24 as one of those who descended to Egypt with the family of Jacob. His descendants, the Gunites, are numbered in the second wilderness census of Numbers 26:48. A second Guni appears in 1 Chronicles 5:15 as the grandfather of Ahi, a clan leader of Gad, though the two individuals are distinct. The Naphthalite Guni founded one of the family divisions through which his tribe maintained its identity during the Exodus generations.
