Hasadiah was a descendant of King Jeconiah (Jehoiachin) of Judah.
Hasadiah was a son of Zerubbabel the governor, listed in 1 Chronicles 3:20 among the post-exilic descendants of the Davidic royal line. He is one of six sons attributed to Zerubbabel in this passage, born after the return from Babylon. His inclusion in the Davidic genealogy of Chronicles testifies to the survival and continuation of the royal line in the post-exilic community, a matter of ongoing theological and political significance.
