Hazaiah

Exile Tribe of Judah · H2382
Old Testament

Hazaiah was an ancestor of Maaseiah, a leader who lived in Jerusalem.

Hazaiah was a man of the tribe of Judah from the clan of Shelah who settled in Jerusalem after the return from Babylonian exile, recorded in Nehemiah 11:5. His genealogical entry places him in the line of Maaseiah son of Baruch, stretching back through the Shelanite branch of Judah. His resettlement in Jerusalem was part of the broader effort under Nehemiah to repopulate the city with representatives of the various Israelite families.
