Jarha was an Egyptian servant who married the daughter of Sheshan, a descendant of Judah.
Jarha was an Egyptian servant of Sheshan, a descendant of Judah through the Jerahmeelite clan (1 Chronicles 2:34–35). Because Sheshan had no sons, he gave his daughter in marriage to Jarha his servant, and through this union a genealogical line continued that is traced for six generations in 1 Chronicles 2:36–41. Jarha's story is a notable example in the Chronicler's genealogies of the integration of a foreigner—by means of marriage and adoption into a Judahite family—into the Israelite covenant community.
