Jehdeiah

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Levi · H3165G
Old Testament

Jehdeiah was a Levite descendant of Amram who served during the reign of King David.

Jehdeiah was a Levite, the son of Shebuel and a descendant of Amram through Moses, who received a Levitical assignment during David's organization of temple service (1 Chronicles 24:20). He was among the chief men of the Amramite branch of the Kohathite Levites. The Amramite connection to Moses gave this family particular prestige within the Levitical order, and the careful recording of their assignments reflects the Chronicler's concern to establish the legitimacy of the temple personnel.
