Malchi-shua, a son of King Saul, was killed in battle against the Philistines.
Malchi-shua was the third son of King Saul and one of the princes who died alongside his father on Mount Gilboa in the disastrous battle against the Philistines (1 Samuel 14:49; 31:2; 1 Chronicles 8:33; 10:2). He and his brothers Jonathan and Abinadab fell in the same battle that ended Saul's reign and cleared the way for David's kingship over all Israel. His death, along with his brothers', fulfilled the prophetic judgment Samuel had delivered to Saul at Endor the night before (1 Samuel 28:19).
