Mushi

Exodus & Wilderness Tribe of Levi · H4187
Old Testament

Mushi was a son of Merari and a grandson of Levi, who became the head of the Mushite clan within the Levitical tribe.

Mushi was the second son of Merari, himself the third son of Levi, making Mushi one of the primary founders of a major Levitical clan (Exodus 6:19; Numbers 3:20). The Mushites formed one of the two principal subdivisions of the Merarites and were assigned the task of carrying the boards, bars, pillars, and bases of the tabernacle during the wilderness wanderings (Numbers 3:35–37). Mushi's descendants—Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth—continued to lead the Mushite clan through the period of the monarchy (1 Chronicles 23:23).
