Pathrusim

Early Patriarch · H6625
Old Testament

Pathrusim, a People from Mizraim, son of Ham, according to Genesis 10:14.

The Pathrusim were a people descended from Mizraim (Egypt), listed in the Table of Nations as one of the Egyptian or north African peoples (Genesis 10:14; 1 Chronicles 1:12). Their name is connected to Pathros, the Hebrew name for Upper Egypt—the region of the Nile Valley south of Memphis—and the Pathrusim are understood to be the inhabitants of that region. Isaiah 11:11 and Ezekiel 29:14 refer to Pathros as a place where diaspora Jews lived, confirming its identification with Upper Egypt.
