Seir

Seir the Horite was the ancestral figure from whom the mountainous region of Edom took its name, listed in Genesis 36:20–21 and 1 Chronicles 1:38 as the father of the Horite clans who originally inhabited the land before Esau's descendants dispossessed them (Deuteronomy 2:12, 22). His sons became the chiefs of the Horite clans in the land that would become Edom.
