Anathoth

Anathoth was a son of Becher and a descendant of Benjamin, mentioned in the tribal genealogy of 1 Chronicles 7:8. He shares his name with a Levitical city assigned to the Kohathites in the territory of Benjamin (Joshua 21:18; 1 Kings 2:26), which later became the hometown of the prophet Jeremiah (Jeremiah 1:1) and of several of David's mighty men. The relationship between the personal name and the place name may reflect the tradition that place names derived from the names of founding ancestors. Anathoth the person is otherwise unknown beyond this genealogical reference.
