Arisai

Old Testament

Arisai was one of the ten sons of Haman, who were killed and hanged after their father's downfall.

Arisai was one of the ten sons of Haman the Agagite, listed in the account of the Jews' victory over their enemies in Susa (Esther 9:9). After Haman's execution, his ten sons were killed by the Jews defending themselves under the authorization of King Ahasuerus. Their names are recorded in a distinctive vertical list in the Hebrew text, reflecting perhaps a public proclamation or execution list. The Persian names of Haman's sons, including Arisai, are generally recognized as authentic to the Achaemenid period, supporting the historical setting of the book of Esther.
