This Benaiah was a Levite musician and gatekeeper who played the lyre during the ceremonial transport of the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem under David (1 Chronicles 15:18, 20). He is distinct from the more famous Benaiah son of Jehoiada, David's chief of bodyguard.
