Dionysius the Areopagite was one of the people who believed Paul's message when he preached in Athens.

Dionysius the Areopagite was a member of the Athenian council of the Areopagus who became a believer through Paul's famous sermon on Mars Hill (Acts 17:34). His conversion was significant because the Areopagus was the ancient judicial and cultural council of Athens, and his membership in it indicates his social prominence. Though Paul's Athens mission produced few converts compared to other cities, Dionysius and Damaris became the nucleus of the Athenian church. Later tradition identifies him as the first bishop of Athens.
