Old Testament

Jedidah was the mother of King Josiah of Judah and the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath.

Jedidah was the mother of King Josiah of Judah, one of the most celebrated reforming kings in the Old Testament. She was the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath and the wife of King Amon, who was assassinated by his servants (2 Kings 22:1). Josiah, Jedidah's son, became king at eight years old and initiated sweeping religious reforms after the discovery of the book of the Law in the temple (2 Kings 22–23). As the queen mother of Josiah, Jedidah holds a significant if brief place in the royal Davidic lineage.
