Neariah

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Judah · H5294G
Old Testament

Neariah, a descendant of King David, was the son of Shemaiah and had three sons: Elioenai, Hizkiah, and Azrikam.

Neariah was a descendant of King David through Zerubbabel, listed in the post-exilic Davidic genealogy of 1 Chronicles 3:22–23. He was the son of Shemaiah and father of three sons: Elioenai, Hizkiah (Hezekiah), and Azrikam. The continuation of the Davidic genealogy into the post-exilic period in 1 Chronicles demonstrates that the royal line survived the Babylonian exile, even though the monarchy itself had ended. Neariah appears only in this genealogical record.
