Psalms 19:11
Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

Study Note
The declaration that 'by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward' concludes the Torah-praise section of Psalm 19 (19:7-11) with a double affirmation of Scripture's function: both cautionary (warning against deviation) and motivational (reward for faithfulness). The transition from Psalm 19's opening cosmological praise (19:1-6, the heavens declaring God's glory) to Torah-praise is itself significant: the same God whose voice speaks through nature also speaks through specific verbal revelation, and both are 'going out through all the earth.' Paul's citation of verse 4 ('their line is gone out through all the earth') in Romans 10:18 for the spread of the gospel suggests a christological rereading of Psalm 19's cosmic proclamation. The verse became a foundation for Reformed theology of Scripture's sufficiency and the sanctifying function of biblical warning.
