Halakhah

The practical application of biblical law to daily life, derived from the Hebrew word for 'walking.' While the term itself is post-biblical, the concept pervades Scripture: Deuteronomy 5:33 commands, 'Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you.' Psalm 119:1 blesses those 'whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord.' Micah 6:8 asks, 'What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.' Jesus critiqued certain halakhic traditions that nullified God's word (Mark 7:1-13) while affirming the importance of obedient living. Paul urged believers to 'walk by the Spirit' (Galatians 5:16).
