'To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins' — Peter's summary before Cornelius's household presents the entirety of the Hebrew prophetic canon as a unified testimony to Jesus. The 'whosoever' (panta ton pisteuonta — literally 'everyone who believes') is programmatic for Luke's Gentile mission: the prophets' witness is universally applicable without ethnic qualification. The passage (verses 34–43) represents the watershed moment in Acts when the Gentile mission is theologically grounded in Scripture and confirmed by the falling of the Spirit before baptism (verse 44–46), effectively removing any remaining barrier to Gentile inclusion.
