Old Testament

Chimham, son of Barzillai, accompanied David to Jerusalem after Absalom's rebellion.

Chimham was the son of Barzillai the Gileadite, who came to David's side when David fled from Absalom and who supplied provisions to the royal army (2 Samuel 19:37–40). When the aged Barzillai declined David's invitation to live at court in Jerusalem, he asked that Chimham be shown royal favor in his place. David agreed and 'did for Chimham all that he desired,' and later charged Solomon to show continuing kindness to the sons of Barzillai (1 Kings 2:7). Jeremiah 41:17 later refers to a lodging place near Bethlehem associated with Chimham.
