Chuza was the steward (estate manager) of Herod Antipas, the tetrarch of Galilee, mentioned in Luke 8:3 as the husband of Joanna. Joanna was one of several women who had been healed by Jesus and who provided for his ministry out of their own means. The fact that an official of Herod's household was closely connected with Jesus' movement illustrates the surprising social breadth of his following and the courage required of those who supported him openly.
