Deuel, also called Reuel, was the father of Eliasaph, who was the leader of the tribe of Gad during the wilderness journey.
Deuel (also spelled Reuel in some texts) was the father of Eliasaph, the appointed leader of the tribe of Gad during Israel's wilderness journey (Numbers 1:14; 2:14). The variant spellings—Deuel in Numbers 1:14 and 7:42, Reuel in Numbers 2:14—likely reflect a scribal interchange between the letters 'd' and 'r' in Hebrew, which look similar. Eliasaph son of Deuel/Reuel oversaw the census of Gad and presented the tribe's offerings at the dedication of the tabernacle.
