Elhanan, a warrior from Bethlehem, killed Lahmi, the brother of Goliath the Gittite.
Elhanan was a warrior from Bethlehem, son of Jaare-oregim (or Jair), who killed Lahmi, the brother of Goliath the Gittite, in one of David's battles against the Philistines (2 Samuel 21:19; 1 Chronicles 20:5). The parallel accounts differ slightly—2 Samuel appears to credit Elhanan with killing Goliath himself, while 1 Chronicles clarifies it was Goliath's brother Lahmi—a textual variation that has been the subject of much scholarly discussion. Elhanan appears in the list of David's mighty men (2 Samuel 23:24) and was one of the heroes who fought the remaining Philistine giants.
