H0869
Ethnan was a son of Ashhur (or 'Ashur'), the father (ie founder) of Tekoa.
Ethnan was a man of the tribe of Judah from the clan of Ashur, recorded in 1 Chronicles 4:7 alongside his brothers Zereth and Zohar as sons of Helah, one of Ashur's two wives. He is part of the Judahite genealogical register that documents the southern tribe's various family branches during the Divided Monarchy. His name, meaning 'gift' or 'hire,' appears only in this genealogical notice without further narrative context.
