Gehazi, the servant of the prophet Elisha, was punished with leprosy for his greed and deceit in the matter of Naaman's healing.
Gehazi was the servant of the prophet Elisha who appears in three significant episodes in 2 Kings: the miraculous provision for the Shunammite woman and the raising of her son (2 Kings 4), the healing of Naaman the Syrian commander (2 Kings 5), and a later meeting with the king of Israel (2 Kings 8). Most notably, Gehazi secretly accepted payment from Naaman after Elisha had refused it, an act of greed and deception for which he was struck with Naaman's leprosy (2 Kings 5:20–27). His story serves as a cautionary example of the corruption that can undermine those who serve alongside great prophets.
