Hassenuah

Exile Tribe of Benjamin · H5574
Old Testament

Hassenuah (also known as Hassenaah) was a leader from the tribe of Benjamin who lived in Jerusalem during the time of Nehemiah.

Hassenuah (or Senuah) was a Benjamite ancestor from whose line Judah son of Hassenuah served as the second-in-command over the city of Jerusalem after the return from exile (Nehemiah 11:9). The family may have been connected to the Senaah family also mentioned in the return lists (Ezra 2:35), reflecting a Benjamite clan that settled near Jerusalem. His descendant's administrative role in the city illustrates the important part the tribe of Benjamin played in the post-exilic restoration.
