The Mithnites were the people group of Joshaphat the Mithnite, one of David's mighty men listed in the extended catalogue of 1 Chronicles 11:43. The geographic or ethnic referent of the term is unknown, as Methen or Mithn does not appear as a place name elsewhere in the biblical record. Joshaphat's inclusion among David's elite warriors places the Mithnites among the diverse groups from which David drew his military champions during his rise to power.
