Talmon was a Levite gatekeeper who returned from Babylon and served at the temple.
Talmon was a Levite gatekeeper whose family is listed among those who returned to Jerusalem from Babylonian captivity and resumed their duties at the temple (1 Chronicles 9:17; Ezra 2:42; Nehemiah 7:45). He appears at the head of a family of gatekeepers, a hereditary Levitical office responsible for guarding the temple precincts. Talmon's family continued serving in this capacity into the post-exilic period, as attested in the resettlement records of Nehemiah 11:19.
