The confession 'Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us' is the joyful response to the 'feast of fat things' on the mountain of the Lord (Isaiah 25:6-8), which includes the eschatological swallowing up of death forever. Paul cites Isaiah 25:8 in 1 Corinthians 15:54 as fulfilled in the resurrection, making this banquet scene one of the pre-eminent OT visions of resurrection hope. The waiting motif ('we have waited for him') is a Leitmotif in Isaiah (25:9; 26:8; 33:2; 40:31) that frames the human response to divine delay as active, patient trust rather than passive resignation. Revelation 19:6-9's 'marriage supper of the Lamb' draws on Isaiah 25's eschatological banquet as its primary archetype, completing the intertextual circle.
